CANDIDATE FAQs
Commonly asked questions by candidates
Frequently Asked QUestions
What types of roles does PARTNER Executive specialise in?
We cover the full leadership spectrum, from CEO and executive appointments through to senior management and the highly specialist, technical positions that mining, engineering, energy and infrastructure businesses depend on. This includes roles that are hard to fill through advertising alone, think Mine Managers, technical directors, project leads and niche operational specialists, as well as C-suite and non-executive appointments.
What's the difference between executive search and using a recruitment agency?
Recruitment agencies typically work from active candidate pools and advertised roles. Executive search is different, we proactively identify and approach candidates who aren't actively looking, including those currently performing well in competitor or adjacent organisations. For senior, technical or niche roles across mining, engineering and infrastructure, this is often the only way to reach the right person.
Do you operate outside of Perth and Sydney?
Absolutely. We have dedicated offices in Sydney CBD and Perth CBD, but we run searches across Australia and internationally. Our global candidate network means we can source exceptional senior talent wherever it exists, whether you're an Australian organisation with global ambitions or an international business looking to hire into the Australian market.
Is it free for candidates to use PARTNER Executive's services?
Yes, completely free. Confidential career conversations, executive salary benchmarking, access to unadvertised roles, full interview preparation and support, all of it is complimentary. PARTNER Executive is engaged and paid by the hiring organisation, never the candidate. You get genuine investment in your career with no strings attached
How does PARTNER Executive approach diversity and inclusion in executive search?
It's not a separate workstream for us. It's woven into how we run every search. We actively surface candidates from diverse backgrounds, we challenge conventional hiring assumptions when we see them, and we work with clients to build leadership teams that genuinely reflect a broad range of perspectives. This isn't an add-on to the PARTNER promise. It is the PARTNER promise.
How long does an executive search typically take?
Most searches take between 8 and 12 weeks from brief to appointment, depending on the seniority of the role and how niche the specialism is. Board and CEO appointments, or highly technical roles in mining, energy or critical minerals, can take longer given the smaller talent pool. We'll give you a realistic timeline at the start of every engagement, not a generic promise.
Is my information kept confidential if I speak with you?
Yes. Confidentiality works both ways. We won't put your name forward or share your details with a client without your consent, and initial conversations are always exploratory and off the record.
What happens after I submit my CV or speak with a consultant?
If there's a live brief that matches your background, we'll discuss it with you in detail before anything moves forward, including the client, role and process. If nothing suits right now, we'll keep your details on file and reach out when a relevant opportunity arises.
